I am having a hard time, for example, finding informaiton about Lumberjills in the USA. Most often, the focus is on Britain-Scottland. I just was wondering about them, as there really isn't a lot of information aboaut the Women's Timber Corps as there is for so many other events in History, so many other branches of service. Anyway... hope it is okay to ask. Thank you so much for posting this. So interesting. I admire these ladies very much.

CCdayseasehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/12968487732883050716noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8209714550534849758.post-86507598497152627872013-09-15T18:03:40.751+01:002013-09-15T18:03:40.751+01:00Hi all, I recently became involved with a heritage...Hi all, I recently became involved with a heritage project aiming to interview women who worked in the North East as LumberJills. It would be great if anyone reading this got in touch with us regarding information about this fascinating period in history. Please contact the Project Worker Joanne Norman on 0191 5672550. We also have a 'Life on the Home Front' event to be held on 28.9.13 at Chopwell Woods. I have had a long interest in the Land Girls and my husband is ace at hunting down their privately published memoirs, working from a list produced by the Imperial War Museum. The Lumber Jills were a really special group of women working in particular isolation and dealing with incredible hardship. There was an interesting Radio 4 programme about them some years back. I will always remember the description of the cold freezing the water in one of the girls hot water bottles while they were working in a Scottish forest!

Love your blog, we share many interests, gardening, antique china, Sweden, etc etc.

Have a great weekend

Elaine xElainehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/15831411538306216262noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8209714550534849758.post-306099226180346702013-07-03T19:54:42.062+01:002013-07-03T19:54:42.062+01:00I got in to WWII reenacting because of the Women&#...I got in to WWII reenacting because of the Women's Land Army of both the US and the UK (I have an original WLA uniform).
