Dad

dad1 n. colloq. daddy
informal word for father

dad2 n. father [imitative of a child’s da da]

dad3 n. loves the music on repeat and full volume, providing Katie with valuable ‘life tips’ (“Do as I say, not as I do”), pottering in the garden, talking in funny voices to Mollie-Dog (when he think no-ones listening), taking time (and using all the crockery) making dinner for his girls, chuckling, finding a good bargain, putting the world to rights with his friends, knowing-a-bit-about-everything, taking photographs, predicting the weather, telling classic ‘Dad Jokes’ and breaking into (questionable) dance moves, always laughing halfway through the story, forever rocking and rolling.

Dad always liked hearing what I was writing about on this blog, so it seems only right I mention him now. We had to say goodbye at the end of August, and I wrote the above text for his order of service. He always said one of the best ways to learn is to read the dictionary - hence why I thought this would be a fitting tribute to my wonderful, clever and very very funny Dad.

Oh Katie, I'm so sorry to hear this. I hope you are alright. Dads are so precious. I went for a day out with mine yesterday and it wasn't until I only began to see him once I month that I truly realised how special these moments are. Keep well xxx
