“Bohemian Rhapsody” by Ellen von Unwerth, Vogue 1997

 “Bohemian Rhapsody” Karen Elson

After promising a more constant approach to blogging last time, I was hit by technical difficulties and was left laptop-less for a whole week....it really wasn't that stressful, I got stuck into my books instead, but I did miss reading my favourite blogs!

I found these photographs on Pinterest, and managed to track them down to an issue of American Vogue 1997 (WHY don't people label their pins most of the time? It only takes a second!) They are shot by Ellen von Unwerth, a popular fashion photographer, but I must admit, this is the first time I have enjoyed her work. These are lush, glamorous and quite ahead of their time (they don't look late 90's at all to me!) They have all the qualities that i can enjoy in Tim Walkers work, but perhaps a tad more subtle? Karen Elson is always striking, the above portrait reminds me of a classic pre-raphaelite masterpiece, the rich blooms of the hydrangea, the delicate embroidery of the dress, and of course, Karen's stunning red hair. Delicate, timeless and naturally beautiful.

Which reminds me, I cannot WAIT to take a stroll to the Tate Britain soon to see their "Pre-Raphaelites: Victorian Avant-Garde" exhibition - all my favourites in one show, my eyes will be on stalks!

Here are a few more photographs from the editorial, this time of model Trish Goff. I am always on the look out for 'garden' themed works, as they compliment my vintage photograph posts, so I am going to try and feature contemporary examples more often! Gardens, beauty and creativity go naturally hand in hand, and I hope to share other works very soon. If you know of any, do let me know!

Glad you liked them too! Its not usual for me to put "fashion" type images on here, but I think they are lovely...so, breaking tradition, why not! :)
